Dear High River Heat Junior players/parents,
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate the ever-changing guidelines that come from COVID, AHS, and our provincial governing body as they relate to adult sports teams and lacrosse.
Currently, registration is open in anticipation of the season being able to run. We are hopeful that with recent trends in the pandemic in Alberta that a lacrosse season in some form could begin as early as late March with games taking place in the traditional mid-April to end of July time frame but of course we cannot guarantee that in any way and the season may start and run later, if and when it runs. With that said here is what we do know.
The Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) has initiated an “Alberta Lacrosse Path Forward” plan, effective February 8, 2021, and Step One protocols are outlined for all participants 18 years old or younger.
In addition to registering directly with a RMLL Franchise, Alberta players must also complete an RMLL Intent-to-Play. The RMLL Intent-To-Play does not apply to players on RMLL out-of-province teams.
As per the ALA, only RMLL players completing this Intent-to-Play will be allowed to go on the floor with an Alberta RMLL Franchise. (Call-ups from Minor Lacrosse do not complete the Intent-To-Play)

Once you have completed entering all the required information, you will receive a RMLL Registration Confirmation e-mail.
Please give a copy of this RMLL Registration Confirmation e-mail to each RMLL Franchise you are going on the floor with.

NEXT REGISTER WITH HRLA
HRLA is asking that players register, to assist us in determining how many players we have registered and will also guarantee players a spot in the program that operates this season. Upon registration, with HRLA each registrant will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit. That amount will be 25% of the total registration fee due once registration is confirmed. If players are not registered early, we may not be able to offers spots in the program to players at a later date. Click here to register HRLA will accept etransfers to firstname.lastname@example.org for payment, but please bare in mind your spot is NOT CONFIRMED IF YOU DO NOT PAY the Initial deposit of $155.00 (25% of total fee). Make sure you communicate with the treasurer if you need to split up payments, HRLA will do their best to accommodate those who need alternate arrangements.
Why is this deposit non-refundable?
The short answer is that operating a minor & junior lacrosse club does have ongoing expenses that need to be paid regardless of what participation looks like. Things like websites, and insurance, all continue to have to be paid. Last season HRLA chose to refund 100% of all registrants' money and paid funds to ALA and RMLL for their continued operations out of funds that we had raised from prior operations. This is not sustainable over the long term, especially if we face another season of expenses for websites, insurance, or coaching certification without registration income. The HRLA and RMLL will need funds to ensure the long-term viability of junior lacrosse in High River and Alberta.
As the season unfolds, we anticipate collecting additional fees at 3 other points throughout the season. Again, the collection of these fees will be based on a “pay as you go” plan. We believe this is the fairest means of recovering the costs for the actual lacrosse players get to enjoy while minimizing the chances of having players/parents waiting on significant refunds.
It’s our hope that we are able to offer games with 5 on 5 gameplay and it may be that a team will play each other twice in one week, and then have a two-week isolation time before another team is played. During that two weeks, practices will still be available. It’s possible there will be fewer games for the season and may be limited to south teams only due to the nature of the schedule and the need to form cohorts.
**Please keep in mind this is all preliminary and could change pending on Alberta's Path Forward Plan. **
We are excited to get back in the game, and we hope you are too. HRLA is ready to cheer loud and proud!
