Trainers
Trainers are vital members of the team, who act as the team’s primary medical contact on the bench during practices and games. Their focus is to ensure the safety, health, and physical readiness of our Spurs athletes.
Trainer Requirements
Certification
Trainers must have the appropriate certification. Appropriate certification is defined as one of the following:
- Any St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid course of 8 hours (or more) or equivalent
- Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & First Responder
- Canadian Red Cross Sport First Responder and Sport Aid course
- Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP) LEVEL 2
- An appropriate designation (examples: MD, RN, Physiotherapist, Police Officer, Firefighter, Chiropractor, Registered Massage Therapist).
Note: CPR alone is not considered an equivalency.
Other Requirements
Trainers must:
- Register as Staff in Ramp Registration.
- Provide a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 3 seasons).
- Complete Respect in Sport (RIS) for Parents (within the last 4 seasons)
- See ALA: Respect in Sport for Parents, to complete RIS certification or look up your current certification number.
- If you have RIS certification for another sport you can also use this link to import your certification to ALA.
- Upload certification documents (first aid certification or professional designation registration) to Ramp Registration.
- Log in to Ramp Registration
- Open My Registrations. From your dashboard, select My Registrations to view all registrations linked to your profile.
- Select the correct registration. Choose the registration that matches the certification you need to upload (e.g., Trainer registration for Trainer Certification, or VSS or CRC for managers/ coaches/ trainers).
- Click Manage on the right side. On the far right of the selected registration, click Manage to open your registration details.
- Upload your certification file. Scroll to the Uploads section, select Upload Files, and attach your certification document in the window that appears.
